The NCH Rooney Heart Institute, part of the NCH Healthcare System in Naples, Florida, has received a significant boost in funding. The James M. Schoonmaker II Foundation has donated $5 million to support the expansion of cardiac care services at the institute.
This generous contribution will aid in the construction of the R.M. Schulze Family Heart and Stroke Critical Care Center, located on the NCH Downtown Baker Campus. The new facility, which will cost $265 million, is primarily funded through philanthropic efforts. With this latest donation, the total amount remaining to be raised for the capital project is now $72 million. NCH plans to break ground on the construction in February 2025, with an expected completion date in 2027.
Treecie Schoonmaker, chair of the Schoonmaker Foundation, expressed pride in supporting NCH and its mission to enhance community health. “We are proud to continue our commitment to NCH and its mission to help everyone in our community live longer and healthier lives,” she stated. “This donation reflects our belief in the power of modern medicine and the vital role that institutions like NCH play in improving health outcomes for all.”
